Promoter Ricky Kottensttete Discuss the Upcoming Jackson's MMA Series II

John Fullilvoe, Jackson's MMA Series

Jackson's MMA Series:  Can you describe how Jackson’s MMA Series 1 went?

Ricky Kottensttete:  It went really well.  It was our first event we ever had.  We couldn’t be more pleased.  The turnout was great and the matchups were incredible.  It was a testament to us putting together a high quality promotion with everything head to toe being professional.

Jackson's MMA Series:    Jackson’s MMA Series I had very positive reviews from various media outlets – is the next show going to be a similar experience to how the first one was?

Ricky Kottensttete:  We were really pleased with the first show and we are not looking to change the second one.  We just have tightened up some stuff internally.  The reviews were really great.  I didn’t get any complaints from fans and that’s all you can ask for.  Nobody got hurt.

Jackson's MMA Series:    Can you describe the fight card and main event?

Ricky Kottensttete:  The main event will be Coty “Ox” Wheeler who is a WEC veteran and calls himself the Reservation Sensation.  This will be the first time fighting in Albuquerque since fighting in the WEC.  He will be fighting Ray Robinson, a real tough cat out of Arizona.  He has won all of his fights by submission.  This is an opportunity for Ox to come in and put on his show for the fans here in Albuquerque.  If you have never seen him fight before he does definitely put on a show from the walk-in  to the ring intro.  It’s going to be a blast.

Jackson's MMA Series:    How would describe how Ox fights if fans have not caught him on WEC?

Ricky Kottensttete:  Ox is a real fun, flashy explosive fighter.  I believe he has won three fights by flying armbar and he has real flashy kicks and punches. He’s very quick and has great agility and speed.  He’s one of those guys that you can’t blink because you are going to want to watch it the whole time.  It will be interesting because Ray Robinson is a seasoned veteran.    It will be interesting to see the game plan he brings to fight Ox.

Jackson's MMA Series:   Will Ox be going back to the WEC after this fight?

Ricky Kottensttete:  That’s really up to his agent Jahani Curl (Machi Sports) and the coaching staff.  We’ve felt that the 124 weight class should be in the WEC and that would be a good spot for him as well as for one of his teammates “Little” John Dodson.  We’re hoping that pretty soon they’ll open it up and hopefully by that time Ox will have a couple of

wins by that time and hopefully put in that 125 pound weight class.  We think he will do very well at that weight as he has done at 135.

Jackson's MMA Series:    Julie Kedzie is also on the card.  Can you comment about her fight?

Ricky Kottensttete:  Julie is ranked #8 in the world at 135.  We really feel that she is one of the best female fighters in the world.  In my opinion #8 is too low.  It looks like she will be fighting Sarah Dalelio.  We are looking forward to that fight.  Sarah is fighting out of Washington.  I have faith with her manager Slade who has come through with us on female fights before that this fight will happen.  We have a good working relationship with him.  We’re looking forward to that fight and for Julie to make Albuquerque her hometown and she establishes a relationship whereby fans come out and look forward to seeing her fight every time.

Jackson's MMA Series:   With Sarah and Ray coming from out of state is it indicative of what you try to do with the card?

Ricky Kottensttete:  What we are doing is looking to find the best fighters to push our guys.  Obviously, for our guys this is a feeder show for bigger shows.  It’s an opportunity for our guys to prove to us that they are ready to go to the next level.  Most of our guys have fought most of the guys on the circuit here in the state so we are reaching out to find good opponents from all around the United States.  We will do whatever it takes to get our guys ready for the next level.  If somebody comes in and beats one of our guys, then maybe they are ready for the next level.  It’s an opportunity to for the fans, scouts and matchmakers to watch the show in person or on the internet pay-per-view and see the fighters.  If you beat a Jackson fighter then you’re putting your name in the hat as well.
